The ghouls take Figure prisoner, yet, thanks to Miss Lupescu, Body understands exactly how to call for help in a language called Night-Gaunt (which is, yes, the language of the night-gaunts). Night-gaunts are flying creatures that live in Hell however are on the side of good, not wickedness. The Graveyard Book Audiobook Online. When Body calls for help, they inform Miss Lupescu that he remains in serious danger.

Since my interest in audiobooks has been rekindled, I asked you all on twitter and facebook to tell me your recent favorites. You shared a whopping 77 titles. Your top 40 appear below, but this is what the shorter list of your (and my) very favorites looks like:
Yes! I love audio books, but agree that it has to be the right book/reader. I really enjoyed listening to Unbroken and The Hobbit, and my kids have listened to the Winnie the Pooh series over and over!
Also, Tony Horwitz books are great. He writes books, like Baghdad Without A Map,Confederates in the Attic, One for the Road, Blue Latitudes, Into the Blue, The Devil May Care: 50 Intrepid Americans and Their Quest for the Unknown, A Voyage Long and Strange: (Rediscovering the New World), Midnight Rising: John Brown and the Raid That Sparked the Civil War,
When I was homeschooling my two kids we listened to lots of Audible.com but that was years ago and I thank you for inspiring me to look again! My two favorite audio books were both by Laura Hildebrand: Seabiscuit and Unbroken.

We love audiobooks! Yes, listening definitely counts as reading. Listening to audiobooks is very valuable for improving your vocabulary, developing a love of reading, and it's relaxing and can help boost your mood.
These are some great audiobooks we highly recommend for middle schoolers. Click on any book, then click on it one more time in Goodreads for a summary. You don't need a Goodreads account :) To learn how to get one of these audiobooks visit us in the school library or email pmslibrary@sau52.org.
A student may check out a Kindle Fire from the library just like they would check out a book. The Kindle Fires are loaded with lots of audiobooks and ebooks, and students can request titles for us to add. The Kindle Fires are locked with parental controls so kids can't do much with them besides read and listen to books :)

You can never go wrong with Mercy Watson! Princess in Disguise is the perfect non-scary Halloween audiobook for families with young children who want something a bit longer than a picture book. The Watsons squeeze their porcine wonder into a princess costume, but all Mercy can think of is buttered toast. Let the mayhem begin! Ages 3 and up.
My son gobbled up the audiobooks of this cute and clever series that centers on a group of kids with unconventional magical abilities. The action follows the adventures of the kids as they learn to harness and control their magic while navigating the typical ups and downs of school life. The series was also adapted into a DisneyPlus series. It's not scary at all. Ages 5 and up.
We loved this hilarious book about an invisible, magical and mischievous spirit. The Boggart lives in an old Scottish castle but he accidentally gets transported to Toronto when he is gets trapped in an old desk. He has fun making mischief in his new digs but soon he feels homesick and searches for a way to get back home. Ages 6 and up.
Estes penned this book about two seven year girls who create an elaborate story about an imaginary "Old Witch." They decide that Old Witch needs to start mending her wicked ways or else there will be no Halloween. The blurred boundary between reality and make-believe worlds is just what every child hopes for. Ages 5 and up.
When I was a kid, this novel that scared the bejeezus out of me. Other kids may not feel the same way, but the whole idea of witches turning little kids into mice gave me the creeps. Perhaps your kids will feel otherwise. Nevertheless, this book has all of Dahl's wonderful trademark weirdness. Ages 5 and up.
You'll be able to find a plethora of audiobook versions of Poe's work. I can't say that I recommend one over the other, although Vincent Price is a fun narrator. Choose whatever your library has for you to download into your listening app. A collection of his works will give you and your kids the opportunity to listen to creepy favorites like "The Raven" and "The Tell-Tale Heart." Ages 8-10 and up.
For youth in 5th-8th grade. This book group is run like a Battle of the Books program. Participants are asked trivia questions from the month's selection. There are copies of these books, available at the Central library, for participants to keep.
Overall, this book must be read. If I try to explain it, I have told the whole story. One day can fill an entire chapter or several years. Bod finds out about how every child must one day leave the nest, must learn to live and how to eventually die. This is, in many ways, just a natural result of his years hiding from the man who wishes to kill him. These complex, seemingly contradictions make this book in many ways not for the target audience (aged 10 to 14). However, I assume, but not having read the novel, I would say that perhaps the book is set younger, but the graphic novel was adapted for an older crowd. Mostly this is due to the maturity of the artwork. But perhaps, like many books I read as a kid, I would have enjoyed the murder-mystery aspect at that younger age and left the interpretations for when I was an adult.
Neil Gaiman has written many books and won many awards for them. He won the Audie Award for Book of the Year for his reading of The Graveyard Book. He used to read A Christmas Carol to his children, but only at Christmas.
